INTRACORNEAL RINGS

Intracorneal rings are a modern, proven method of treating keratoconus, the aim of which is not only to reduce the distortion caused by the conus and, consequently, improve visual acuity, but also to reduce myopia and astigmatism accompanying the disease. Ring implantation is a valuable alternative for patients who do not tolerate hard lenses or spectacle correction.

Using a femtosecond laser, tunnels are created in the cornea, into which small, transparent rings are then implanted to reduce the irregularity of the corneal surface. The effect of the procedure is improving visual acuity and reducing the amount of necessary correction (especially cylindrical correction), which also largely translates into improved patient comfort.

The procedure is painless and low-impact, and its first effects are most often visible already on the first day after the procedure.
