MICROSURGICAL LENS VISION CORRECTION

We can correct vision defects by microsurgically implanting an artificial lens inside the eye.

Phakic lenses

In patients under 50 years of age, especially those with myopia and astigmatism, we recommend implanting a posterior chamber phakic lens into the eye. It eliminates vision defects up to -18 diopters and astigmatism up to 6 cylindrical diopters, while maintaining the patient’s own transparent, accommodating lens. Implanting the lens also allows for the correction of hyperopia up to +10 diopters. This solution is especially appreciated by people with high vision defects and those who cannot tolerate contact lenses, as it provides excellent distance and near vision. A huge advantage is the spectacular improvement in vision without glasses the next day after the procedure.

Refractive lens replacement

For patients with presbyopia who need reading glasses and for eyes with no space for phakic lenses, it may be suggested to replace their own lenses with artificial single- or multifocal lenses. Eyes with astigmatism can be replaced with multifocal toric lenses, which correct the refractive error and enable distance vision and reading without glasses. Replacing the lens with an artificial one also prevents problems related to cataracts, i.e. clouding of the lens, which often makes it difficult to choose the right glasses.
