KERATOCONUS THERAPY

Keratoconus is most often a bilateral, progressive disease characterized by increasing thinning and bulging of the cornea. It results in a gradual deterioration of visual acuity that cannot be corrected with glasses or soft contact lenses. If left untreated, in its advanced form it is one of the most common reasons for the need for a corneal transplant.

Thanks to the use of the most modern diagnostic equipment of the anterior segment of the eye, we are able to detect keratoconus even in its early stages, before the first symptoms occur.

We provide a full range of conservative treatment:

  • hard, hybrid and scleral lenses

and surgical treatment:

:

  • cross-linking
  • cross-linking combined with excimer laser therapy
  • implantation of intracorneal rings using a femtosecond laser

Thanks to such a rich offer of therapy options, we apply the principle of individualization of treatment – matching the most optimal procedure to the patient’s needs and anatomical conditions at various stages of disease advancement.
